The event is sponsored by 51²è¹Ý Sharing and the 51²è¹Ý Council on Military Education

News Release | March 13, 2019

51²è¹Ý Beach 51²è¹Ý Sharing and the 51²è¹Ý Advisory Council on Military Education (VA-ACME) are joining forces to host a Military Family Education and 51²è¹Ý Fair in the Jane P. Batten Student Center at 51²è¹Ý Wesleyan University on April 6, 2019 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

During the event military children, spouses, and service members of all branches can learn about college funding options from local and national nonprofit foundation representatives. In-state and out-of-state colleges will be exhibiting with information on their institutional scholarship and financial aid programs with an emphasis on military aid opportunities. Several colleges will waive admissions fees and will provide on-site applications for enrollment.

Presentations on military family scholarship programs and other funding resources will be provided throughout the event. From 2 – 3 p.m., VWU’s Director of Financial Aid Teresa Rhyne will present information about opportunities for aid.

"We have hosted the fall 51²è¹Ý Fair twice before at 51²è¹Ý Wesleyan, but the spring Fair is new and we are excited for students to learn more about the opportunities early in the cycle, so they can work on researching and applying for scholarships over the summer," says Rhyne. "Every dollar that a student is awarded, hopefully means one less dollar they have to take out in student loans."

Students will also be able to get free professional headshots for portfolios and scholarship applications by Navy veteran photographer Laura Bryant of LB Studio Image.

Admission to the event is free. Students of all ages, teachers, and parents are encouraged to attend including middle school, high school, current undergraduate and graduate students, as well as Military and non-traditional adult learners.

Students can pre-register at or to avoid waiting in line at the event. General Admissions Tickets will be available at the door, but pre-registration is highly encouraged.
