British Ambassador to Uzbekistan speaks about UK role in the EU
Ambassador Mr George Edgar was invited to the BFA in Tashkent to deliver a presentation on the United Kingdom and the European Union.
On 10 March 2015 Her Majesty鈥檚 Ambassador Mr George Edgar was invited to the Banking and Finance Academy in Tashkent to deliver a presentation on the United Kingdom and the European Union.
More than 100 students and academic staff members attended the Ambassador鈥檚 presentation, where he spoke about the history of the UK鈥檚 membership of the European Economic Community and later the EU since 1973 and the UK鈥檚 approach over that period to the EU鈥檚 economic and political development. The Ambassador also described the EU鈥檚 successes over the last decades including the creation of a single market and the establishment of an effective common foreign policy, as well as some of the challenges that the EU faces.
The lecture provoked a lively discussion and Ambassador Edgar answered additional questions from students and academic staff.
