Neil Wigan OBE
Biography
Neil Wigan OBE is His Majesty鈥檚 High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya.
Previously, Neil was Ambassador to the State of Israel from 2019 to 2023. He also served as:
- Director for Africa at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) from 2015 to 2018
- British Ambassador to Somalia from 2013 to 2015
- British Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 2010 to 2013
Neil has also worked in the Cabinet Office, working for the Prime Minister鈥檚 Foreign Policy Adviser, and on Middle Eastern and EU economic issues within the FCO.
He has a BA from Oxford University, an MSc in Economics from the University of London and did postgraduate studies at the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.
Before joining the FCO, Neil worked at the Bank of England and as an economist in the private sector.

British High Commissioner to Kenya
The High Commissioner is the UK government鈥檚 representative in a Commonwealth nation. They are responsible for the direction and work of the High Commission and its Deputy High Commissions and/or Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
