Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman: Complaint Handling Code

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Housing and Local Government, Baroness Taylor of Stevenage, has written to local authority leaders about the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman’s Complaint Handling Code.

Details

The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman has published guidance on fair and effective complaints handling for local authorities. Good complaints processing can quickly put things right for members of the public and can help improve public services.

In their Triennial Review, the Ombudsman proposed making this Complaint Handling Code mandatory. The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Housing and Local Government has written to council leaders encouraging councils to voluntarily adopt the Complaint Handling Code’s principles.

The government response to the Triennial Review has also been published on 51²è¹Ý.
