The British Survey of Fertiliser Practice is an annual nationally representative survey based on the selection each year of a sample of farms from mainland Britain. The main purpose of the survey is to estimate average application rates of nitrogen, phosphate and potash used for agricultural crops and grassland. Information is also collected on applications of sulphur fertilisers, organic manures and lime.

User Engagement

Data from the BSFP is an invaluable evidence base for policy makers, academics and researchers. The data is also heavily relied upon by farmers and industry professionals to inform decision making and recommendations of fertiliser application rates, timings of application and coverage.聽

The BSFP is the key data source for the聽聽legal reporting requirements and is heavily cited by the Climate Change Committee on progress towards Net Zero.
