Hazard

It has been identified that the harness can be put on backwards, and the rope or carabiner can therefore be attached to a non-weight-bearing leg loop elastic band. This places the user at a risk of falling from height and sustaining injuries.

Corrective action

Warning users of the risk by: 

  • Reminding operators of the importance of training, supervising and monitoring before and during use of the harness and all equipment, particularly when making the equipment available to customers. 
  • Providing and promoting access to educational tools. 
  • Providing an option for GYM, PANDION and PANJI owners to send Petzl their harnesses for replacement of the current leg loop elastic band with a new design, free of charge. 

It is not mandatory for users or operators to replace the elastics. Petzl however recommends that you send your harness to Petzl After Sales Service for replacement of the current leg loop elastic band with a new design. To check if your product is suitable for replacement leg loops, please see:
